George L. Meyer, 80, of 112 Pine St., Howard, PA, died Mar. 24, 2013 at ManorCare Health Center, Jersey Shore. He was born  Jan. 15, 1933 in Lamar, PA, a son of the late Jarvis & Grace Nihart Meyer.  On July 12, 1954 he married Guilia Louise “Patty” Allen who died Dec. 9, 2004.

George had worked for DeCamp Bus Lines in NJ  for 35 yrs. and retired from Truck Stops of America, Lamar in 2003 where he was a diesel mechanic. He wasa member of Teamsters Local 945.  George was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed doing yard work & going ‘spotlighting’. He had been a social member of the Sons of Italy, the VFW & American Legion, both in Lock Haven, the 40/8 Club & the Castanea Fire Co.  

Survivors include 4 sons; Michael & John Meyer both of Howard, PA; Eric Meyer,  Jacksonville, AL & Guy Meyer, IN and 3 daughters; Georgeanne (Richard) Gerlitz, NC; Lori (Leonard) Sanders, Liberty, NY & Trisha (Mark) Seville, Lamar, PA as well as 34 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by 1 son, Gregory in 2003, 4 brothers: Donald, Jarvis, Dean & Charles Meyer and 7 sisters: Maxine Hoch, Ida Poteigel, Mildred Miller, Mary Miller, Ruth Wolf, Peggy Fuller & Thelma Meyer.    

Funeral services will be held Thur., Mar. 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320  Main St., Mill Hall, PA, with Pastor Joan Gordon officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wed. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Mill Hall, PA.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude’s Children Hospital through the funeral home.

So sorry for the loss of your father. We know that it had been a long hard struggle for him and your family. Take peace in knowing he is at peace with God now and always. Let this be a time for your family to be drawn closer and support for each other. May your love strengthen you all!
