Calvin Peter Funk, a father, veteran and friend of many departed this earth February 17, 2021.
Born June 26, 1923 in North Bend, PA he was the son of the late John C. and Helen Toot Funk. Calvin is survived by a son, Calvin Lee Funk and a daughter, Mary Beth Woodworth as well as a number of grandchildren and good friends, David and Sharon McIntyre of East Freedom, PA and Bob Altland of Kettle Creek, PA.
Subsequent to high school and a short time working in the Renovo railroad shops, Calvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Most of his Army service was at Fort Warren, Wyoming where he operated heavy equipment in the construction of railroads, drove truck and repaired equipment. He was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant, returned to the Renovo area and worked in the Renovo railroad shop until 1962. Later, Calvin worked many years and retired from the Pennsylvania DCNR. Calvin was helpful to all his Kettle Creek neighbors.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at the Kettle Creek Hose Company, Cross Fork, PA in the Spring. He will be interred at the New Maple Grove Cemetery, Kettle Creek, PA.
A Celebration of Life to honor the life of Calvin P. Funk who died Feb. 17, 2021 will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 in the Kettle Creek Hose Co. beginning at 12 Noon. A Masonic Memorial Service will precede a Memorial Service with Martha Sykes officiating. Interment, New Maple Grove Cemetery.
