Elizabeth G. “Betty” Vuccola, 96, formerly of 24 First Street in Mill Hall, passed away Thursday morning, October 1, 2020 at Haven Place in Lock Haven. Born August 9, 1924 in Mingoville, Centre County, she was the daughter of the late George F and Mildred E Yarnell.
Betty graduated from Mill Hall High School in May of 1942 and worked for Sylvania in Mill Hall for several years. She enlisted in the US Army in 1945 where she did her basic training in Georgia before being transferred to Texas and served with the WACs as a Medical-Surgical Technician. Betty married the love of her life, Michael A. Vuccola of Castanea on April 6, 1946 and settled in Mill Hall to raise a family.
After her children were older, Betty went back to work, first as a transporter and later as an X-ray Technician at the Lock Haven Hospital before retiring after 23 years of service. She later volunteered at the hospital for many years and helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She also participated and helped lead exercise classes for a number of years at the Mill Hall Senior Center.
A deeply religious woman, she attended the Mill Hall Methodist Church for over 65 years. She enjoyed keeping house and working in the garden that both she and Mike tended at their home by the Mill Hall Park. Her greatest joys were the times spent with her immediate family, church family, and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, a sister, Louise Yarnell, her brothers Fred, Bob and Donald “Chub” Yarnell, a daughter-in-law, Paulette E (Homan) Vuccola and a granddaughter, Amy E. Vuccola.
She is survived by one daughter, Nadine L. Price, (Jerry), of Maineville, OH and two sons, Michael T. Vuccola, of New Castle, DE, and Craig G. Vuccola of Mill Hall. She is also survived by grandchildren Jason M. Price, (Alina), of Liberty Township, OH, Justin P. Price, (Ashley) of Bellefonte and Stacy L. (Vuccola) Swed of New Castle, DE.
Betty is survived by 1 sister: Marie Koch, Mill Hall, PA
She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren Jessica S. Price, Abigail L. Price, Emily M. Price, Tyler F. Price, and Cameron J. Vuccola.
Private services for Elizabeth G. Vuccola will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, you may honor her memory by making a donation in her name to The American Cancer Society, The American Red Cross or The Salvation Army.
