Gifford Ray Dietz, 88, of Blanchard, PA went home to be with our heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 17th, 2021. He was married to the love of his life, Shirley Cowher Dietz. On Feb. 16th, they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Born July 1st, 1932, Ray was the son of the late Reed Dietz and the late Minnie Gray Dietz, living his entire life in Blanchard, PA. He was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He worked at Claster’s Steel Mill in Williamsport, PA, until his employment with Montour Oil Service Company, from which he retired in 1998.
Ray was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard, PA, serving as a deacon and taking great pride in the addition of its recreational facility. He enjoyed being a member at Upper Hyner Heights Lodge for many years. He was quite the handyman, builder, and innovator, specializing in family projects. He will be remembered for his strong devotion to his family and friends. He loved celebrating all the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, Ray is survived by his daughter, Linda (Tom) Walker of Mill Hall and his son, Kevin Dietz of Port Matilda; his four grandchildren, Nicholas (Meredith) Dietz, Lauren (Nathan) Gerst, Morgan Walker, and Julie Dietz; and his great-granddaughter Harper Rae Gerst. Also surviving is his sister Charlotte Lansberry of Blanchard.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Sheldon Dietz and W. Kenneth Dietz, and his beloved daughter-in-law Amy Dietz.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s name to the Liberty Baptist Church through the funeral home.
