Lynn V. Hakin, 92, 215 S. Water St., Mill Hall, Pa., died Aug. 4, 2022 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1930 in Brownsville, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Susan Hough Hakin. On Feb. 10, 1951 in Winchester, Va., he married Mary Ann Peters who died Sept. 10, 2012.
Lynn was a 1949 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1959 graduate of Lock Haven State College. In 1962 he received his MED from Penn State. As an educator, he taught Social Studies and was a Driver's Education teacher. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the 412th Fighter Group at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Michigan.
Lynn retired in 1986 from the Keystone Central School District where he had served as the Director of Attendance and Transportation. Following his retirement, he drove "coach" for Susquehanna Transit for seven years. Lynn was a long-time member of the Clinton Co. Recreation Authority and had served as its chairman and Asst. Treasurer. He was a member of the Mill Hall United Methodist Church and was a charter member of IU 10. He was a member of the transportation and attendance committee.
He was a life member of B.P.O.E. #182, Lock Haven, and was a former member of the Clinton Co. 4 x 4 Search & Rescue.
Mr. Hakin is survived by three grandchildren, Mary Jo Lund, Shawn C. Neff and Lynn V. (Serita) Hakin, III; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan C. Watkins, who died Dec. 15, 1996; a son, Lynn V. Hakin, II, who died Oct. 13, 2009; a granddaughter, Amanda J. Ciacelli, who died July 13, 2011; a sister, Elva Yost; and two brothers, Wallace (Wally) Hakin and George Hakin, Jr.
A funeral service honoring the life of Lynn V. Hakin will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, Pa., with Pastor Rick Conklin officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, Pa. Friends will be received in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Belle Springs Golf Course through the funeral home.
