Obituary

Melvin D. Shady, 83, formerly of 181 Monument-Orviston Rd. died July 14, 2021. Born July 27, 1937 in Monument, PA he was the son of the late George D. and Erma D. Butler Shady.

Melvin was an avid hunter who loved hunting in the Beech Creek Mountain along with his sons and nephews.

Melvin loved Bluegrass music. He was the lead guitarist and head singer in the band called Jim Davey and the Sound of Bluegrass.

Melvin also loved his family. His grandchildren were his world. As a young boy Melvin played baseball, and he very much enjoyed watching his children play ball.

In his earlier years Melvin joined the United Sates Air Force and was honorably discharged as Airman Third Class.

Melvin then became a heavy equipment operator then drove truck for several trucking companies before retiring from Zimmerman Trucking.

He was survived by:

Two daughters: Tonia C. (Edward) Moltz, Lock Haven, PA and Gwen E. (Bradley) Miller, Loganton, PA

Two sons: Aldas G. (Stacey) Shady, Mill Hall, PA and Terry S. (Melanie) Shady,Lock Haven, PA.

Three sisters: Vonda (Robert) Baker Glen Allen, VA, and Doris (Leo) Ritter, Lock Haven, PA and Sharon (Clark) McCulley, York, PA

1 Brother: Terry R. (Barbara) Shady, Lewisburg, PA

Eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Ransom, Amy Jo (John) Guido, Morgan Moltz ,Derek Moltz, Hannah (Hunter) Bardo, Rachael Shady, Addison Miller, and Wyatt Miller as well as two great grandchildren.

Pre deceased by one son: Mark L. Garbrick

Two sisters: Carol Levi, and Connie Schenck

He resided at Heartland Personal Care Home in Woolrich and was very fond of the staff. The family really appreciated their outstanding care.
